Through Team Inspire, we mobilise specialist consultants and multidisciplinary teams to deliver critical workstreams and complex programmes.We are working with a leading innovative technology firm to find an experienced Lead Technical Architect to provide technical leadership across complex digital and cloud services, with particular emphasis on identifying and implementing practical artificial intelligence opportunities.

About the roleThe role requires a strong combination of strategic architectural leadership and hands-on engineering expertise. The successful consultant will bring proven multi-cloud experience, deep Google Cloud Platform knowledge, strong security architecture capabilities and demonstrable experience applying AI to real organisational challenges.

They will work with senior technical and business stakeholders to identify opportunities, define appropriate solutions, establish architectural direction and support implementation.

This is an execution-oriented architecture assignment, not simply an advisory or governance role.

• Identify and evaluate opportunities for applied AI within existing digital services and operational workflows.
• Translate business challenges into credible AI use cases and technical solutions.
• Define AI solution architectures, integration requirements, security controls and implementation approaches.
• Lead or contribute directly to the implementation of agreed AI solutions.
• Ensure that AI solutions meet relevant security, governance and architectural requirements.
• Provide technical leadership for complex cloud and digital services.
• Define and assure architectures operating across multiple cloud environments.
• Apply advanced knowledge of Google Cloud Platform to solution and service architecture.
• Design and configure Google Cloud VPC Service Controls and associated security boundaries.
• Establish appropriate architecture patterns, standards, roadmaps and technical controls.
• Evaluate architectural decisions against security, operational risk, resilience and delivery outcomes.
• Lead architecture decisions across complex or high-risk services.
• Assure architectural work delivered by other technical architects.
• Apply enterprise strategy, design patterns, technical standards and policies.
• Collaborate across service teams, technical disciplines and governance functions.
• Identify architectural problems early and communicate implications to non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide direction and constructive challenge to senior stakeholders.

Essential skills and experience

• Senior-level experience as a Lead Technical Architect, Principal Architect, Solution Architect or comparable technical architecture leader.
• Proven architecture and delivery experience across multiple cloud platforms.
• Strong, demonstrable Google Cloud Platform experience.
• Practical expertise implementing and configuring Google Cloud VPC Service Controls.
• Substantial cloud security architecture knowledge, including security boundaries, identity, access and data protection.
• Demonstrable AI-specific experience, ideally including the identification, architecture and implementation of AI solutions.
• Evidence of successfully translating business requirements into technical designs and delivered solutions.
• Strong architecture governance, design assurance and decision-making capability.
• Experience influencing senior technical and business stakeholders.
• Current, active UK Security Check (SC) clearance at the point of application.

Particularly relevant experience

• Enterprise AI and generative AI solution architecture.
• AI integration with existing enterprise platforms and data services.
• Google Cloud security architecture and data protection controls.
• Experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure alongside GCP.
• Secure handling of sensitive data in cloud and AI architectures.
• Production implementation of AI-enabled services, rather than conceptual work alone.
• Experience in government, regulated or security-sensitive environments.
• Experience integrating AI into existing digital services or operational workflows.
