Process Engineering and Operational Excellence Consultant
The opportunity
We are building a community of experienced practitioners who can understand how work is performed, lead complex end-to-end process redesign and carry agreed changes into implementation. The objective is to move beyond process documentation and generic continuous improvement into governed, measurable enterprise change.
This role supports two complementary profiles: senior process leaders who bring strong methodology, governance, quality assurance and stakeholder alignment; and digitally enabled process engineers who connect process design to platforms, automation, process intelligence or AI. A practitioner does not need every technology listed below, but must show structured delivery and real implementation evidence.
What you will do • Lead end-to-end analysis and redesign of complex enterprise processes across functions and stakeholder groups. • Facilitate discovery and design workshops, map current and future states, identify pain points, dependencies and conflicts, and build agreement around practical change. • Establish and apply process methods, standards, templates, governance and quality expectations. • Assure process deliverables, identify quality gaps and coach analysts or process practitioners. • Analyse root causes, controls, exceptions, data needs, technology constraints and opportunities for simplification or automation. • Produce and assure process architecture, BPMN or equivalent models, requirements, decision logic and implementation artefacts where appropriate. • Align process change with business objectives, operating-model decisions, governance, risk and controls. • Work with process owners, SMEs, architects, engineers, product teams and operational specialists to translate designs into delivery. • Carry agreed changes through implementation, adoption and measurement.
Essential evidence • At least five years of senior process engineering, business process consulting, process architecture, business analysis or transformation delivery in complex organisations. • Demonstrable personal responsibility for end-to-end process analysis, design or redesign across multiple stakeholder groups. • Strong evidence in current-state and future-state analysis, gap analysis, process modelling, requirements, facilitation and implementation support. • Evidence of process-method leadership, quality assurance, governance or peer review, including resolving conflicting requirements or stakeholder positions. • Evidence that work progressed into implementation, operational adoption or a clearly evidenced outcome rather than stopping at documentation. • Evidence of a structured delivery method such as BPM or BPMN, DMN, Lean Six Sigma or DMAIC, value-stream mapping, Agile, recognised business-analysis methods, process architecture, target-operating-model methods, governance stage gates or a credible hybrid approach. • The ability to explain the operational context, method, personal contribution, decisions and result.
Strong differentiating evidence • Enterprise process-modelling tools or repositories and the management of a process estate. • Process mining or intelligence using Celonis, SAP Signavio, ARIS, UiPath Process Mining or a credible equivalent. • Workflow, low-code or intelligent automation using ServiceNow, Microsoft Power Platform, Appian, Pega, Camunda, Mendix, UiPath or a credible equivalent. • AI, GenAI or agentic AI applied to redesign, automate or govern an enterprise process. • Process architecture or BPMN and DMN tied to implementation, enterprise platforms or operational controls.
Consulting mindset and delivery
You should be comfortable entering unfamiliar environments, listening before prescribing and bringing structure to ambiguity. Clear communication, thoughtful challenge, adaptability and trusted relationships matter. You should be able to work with senior business leaders and delivery teams, build consensus, explain trade-offs and maintain quality through change. These behaviours support but do not replace structured process-delivery evidence.
Useful additional experience • Governance, risk, controls or compliance considerations in process design. • Enterprise platforms such as SAP, Oracle, ServiceNow or Dynamics. • Large-scale transformation, operating-model or organisational-change programmes. • Relevant Business Analysis, Lean, Six Sigma, BPM or process-management certification. • Public-sector, regulated, systems-integrator or complex-enterprise delivery.
How evidence will be assessed
Generic programme management, change management, workshop facilitation or BA documentation alone is insufficient. A strong candidate must show end-to-end process work, a structured method, personal responsibility, quality or governance judgement and movement into implementation or measurable operational change. Digital-process tooling increases fit but is not an automatic hard gate for a process leader with strong implementation, governance and methodology evidence.
About Team Inspire
BeInspired is a Technology, Transformation & Growth delivery partner. Through Team Inspire, we mobilise specialist consultants and multidisciplinary teams to deliver critical workstreams and complex programmes. We start with the outcome, understand the capability gap and shape the right response around it.
This is a UK capability-building opportunity for future contract, interim and consultancy assignments. It is not confirmation of a specific assignment. Start date, duration, day rate, IR35 status, location, working pattern and screening requirements will be confirmed for each requirement. Contractor status, availability, rate and clearance will be qualified separately and never inferred.
Security and eligibility
Some assignments may require BPSS, Security Check clearance or other client screening. Existing clearance is useful when current and verifiable but is not a universal requirement. Nationality, residency, clearance eligibility and right to work must not be inferred from location or employment history.
