GCP Data Engineer
The opportunity
We are developing Team Inspire capability for data engineers who can turn complex operational data into trusted, well-governed and useful data products on Google Cloud Platform.
The work may involve data-platform engineering, analytical data modelling, enterprise integration, automation and delivery within complex transformation programmes. You may contribute as an individual specialist, lead a focused data workstream or work within a multidisciplinary delivery team.
What you will do
• Design, build and improve reliable data pipelines, models and transformations on Google Cloud Platform. • Use SQL to develop efficient, complex queries and analytical data sets. • Use dbt to model, test and transform data in a controlled, reusable way. • Work with BigQuery and relevant GCP data services to support data engineering and analytics use cases. • Apply data-warehousing principles, data-quality controls, documentation, lineage and testing practices. • Use Python for scripting, automation and practical data-engineering tasks. • Work with Git and disciplined version-control, review and deployment practices. • Collaborate with business, data, technology and delivery stakeholders to make data dependable and useful for operational decisions.
Essential evidence
• Practical data-engineering, analytics-engineering or comparable technical-delivery experience. • Strong SQL, dbt, BigQuery and GCP data-service capability. • Data-modelling, transformation and data-warehousing experience. • Basic to intermediate Python for scripting or automation. • Git or equivalent version-control experience. • The ability to explain personal technical contribution, data-quality controls and delivery outcomes.
Useful additional experience
• Data-platform consulting, API and integration delivery, DataOps, CI/CD or cloud architecture. • Public-sector, policing, regulated, systems-integrator or large-enterprise delivery. • Experience of hybrid delivery across UK client environments. • Relevant degree-level study or equivalent practical experience.
